These record breaking gusts just happened to be at the location of one of our radio sites on Morrone at 859m in the Grampian region of Scotland. Despite the severe weather our network continued to provide the local authorities with valuable communications.
An anemometer stationed close to the summit of the Mountain registered a wind speed of 194mph on December 19th, only 37mph short of the world's most powerful gust on Mount Washington in New Hampshire in 1934."
